Construction of highly hydrophobic and fast endothermic surfaces using candle soot and nano-TiO2

Abstract This work combines hydrophobic and heat-absorbing materials to solve the problem of water frost resistance in industrial domestic scenarios harsh environments. Here, highly fast endothermic (HHFE) surfaces were prepared by applying candle soot (nanocarbon) as template, slides carrier nano-TiO2 a backbone connecting layer. The resulting HHFE surface exhibited coral-like porous structure, which is beneficial performance. contact angle between droplet glass with coating was about 120°, thus implying that TiO2 skeleton layer has excellent hydrophobicity. mechanism can be explained Cassie–Baxter model. Infrared thermography thermometry used record thermal capacity rate surface. temperature covered rose from 16°C 38°C within 5 minutes, 46.2% higher 2.2 times faster than ordinary under same solar irradiation. thin film consists nanocarbon materials, particles good heat absorbers.
